Mr Frank Young (Chair)
MBE, BSc(Econ)
Frank has held senior positions in the Vice-Chancellor’s
Office and Bursar’s Office at Queen’s University and was awarded
the MBE for services to Higher Education in 2006. Frank a former interprovincial
and international hockey player, is a past President, Ulster Branch, Irish
Hockey Union. Frank is Trustee of the Retirement Benefits Plan of Queen’s
University and is Chair of Extra Care. Frank was appointed to the Board
of Extra Care in March 2007.
Mr Michael Graham
LL.B, TEP, Solicitor
Michael is an Associate Solicitor in the Private Client
Department of Cleaver Fulton Rankin Solicitors, Belfast. Michael is a
member of the Law Society of England & Wales, the Law Society of Northern
Ireland and the Committee of the Northern Ireland Young Solicitors' Association
(NIYSA). Michael is also a member of The Society of Trust & Estate
Practitioners (STEP), the worldwide professional body for individuals
practising in the area of trusts and tax. Michael is also a founding member
of the STEP NI Branch, and the current Branch Secretary. Michael was appointed
to the Board of Extra Care in May 2007.
Mr Rodney Ross
CILT
Rodney was educated at Coleraine Academical Institution
and has considerable experience in the field of surveying. Rodney originally
trained with W.H. Stephens & Son, Quantity Surveyors and then spent
a number of years with F. B. McKee & Co. Rodney was employed by the
Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company (NITHC) as Estate Surveyor
from 1980 – 1987 and then left to establish a consultancy surveying
company prior to retiring two years ago. Rodney is former Chairman of
the Arts Theatre in Belfast and is currently Chairman of the local Residents
Association. Rodney was appointed to the Board of Extra Care in October
2008.
Ms. Martina Murray
MBS, BA (Hons Mod); MCIPD
Martina is the Director of Academic Programmes at the
School of Community Studies, National College of Ireland. Martina is also
Director of Green Light Consulting, an organisation which specialises
in helping individuals and communities access resources which improve
their quality of life, enhance their self reliance and minimise dependence
on external 'experts' in the long run. Martina is a former Board Member
of the Irish Council for Social Housing (ICSH), the national social housing
federation which represents over 300 housing associations throughout Ireland.
Martina was appointed to the Board of Extra Care in October 2008.
Professor Robert Stout
MD, DSc, FRCP, FMedSci
Professor Stout is Professor Emeritus of Geriatric Medicine
at Queen’s University Belfast and was Director of Research and Development
for Northern Ireland Health and Social Care, retiring in 2007. He was
Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in Queen’s University
from 1991 - 2001. He was a member of the Royal Commission on Long Term
Care 1998-1999, President of the British Geriatrics Society 2002 –
2004, and a member of the General Medical Council. He is chair of the
Board of Governors of Edgehill Theological College, joint chair of the
Centre for Ageing Research and Development in Ireland, and a committee
member of the Stroke Association, Northern Ireland. Professor Stout was
appointed to the Board of Extra Care in October 2008.
Mr Kevin Quigley
BA, MA, FCA, Company Director Diploma IoD
Kevin is Commercial Manager with Group 4 Securicor. Kevin
joined Peat Marwick (KPMG) as a Trainee Chartered Accountant in 1985 and
has held a number of senior positions with a range of companies, including
Financial Controller with Universities Press Belfast Ltd, and Finance
Director with Garage Door Systems Ltd. prior to taking up his current
post. Kevin was appointed to the Board of Extra Care in November 2007.
Professor Dorota Iwaniec
DL, MA, PhD, DipEd, DipSW, CQSW, AsSS, MRIA
Dorota Iwaniec is Emeritus Professor of Social Work and
former Director of the Institute of Child Care Research at Queens University
before retiring in 2005. Professor Iwaniec is well known for her extensive
research, practice and writings in the areas of emotional abuse and neglect
and failure to thrive in children. She is the author of over a hundred
scientific and practice papers and many chapters in edited books. She
has written several books on the subject of child care and child protection.
Her writing is influenced by continuous practice and empirical evidence,
as well as independent assessments of abused and neglected children as
an Expert Witness for the Courts. Professor Iwaniec was appointed to the
Board of Extra Care in November 2007.
